An English Victorian 15 k Gold, Plum Garnet Ring fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1864.

It has 15k Gold Beautifully chased band and the date is guaranteed by the Birmingham Hallmark.

This is one of the earliest hallmarked examples we have come across since the 15ct Gold was introduced which was in the year 1854, just 10 years earlier. 15k gold was last used in 1932.

The cabochon garnet is a beautiful colour, like a ripe rich plum. It is a good size measuring approximately 12 x 9mms

Close up there are some surface marks and a natural internal inclusion

The band is very beautiful with early hand chased patterns, with a mount which has a solid back (Typical of the period) Weight 5.7 grams
